Active For Life
This is not just the starting point for most skaters but a programme that is on-going for those participants who just want to have fun and exercise on a pair of skates. The programme includes our popular Skate4Life sessions dedicated to the family and people of all ages and levels of ability. Also included in the programme is SkateActive which is a skate camp held during school holidays. This keeps the kids active and learning skills.
Learn to Skate
This programme has two section. The first, SkateRight is specifically for those participants between the ages of 4 and 14 who would like to learn the FUNdamentals of roller skating. This course follows the FARS grade system but utilises music and games to make the sessions more interesting and fun. Our second course is SkateAdult, as the title states its for adults (18+) who are either learning to skate for the first time or brushing up on their basic skills. The sessions are informal and guided with adults in mind. Both courses run for 10 week periods and are coached by qualified FARS Skating Coaches. Once this course is completed participants in either course can choose to return to the Active for Life Programme or take the next step and move towards the challenge of competitive roller figure skating.
Learn to Train
This programme is for those skaters who want to learn about roller figure skating and what is involved in the competitive side of the sport. In the Learn to Train programme you will learn about training techniques both on and off-skates. Though the main emphasis is on learning to train participants in this programme can compete at club level competitions. Competitive skating challenges your personal boundaries of excellence while giving you a chance to make friends with like minded people all over the country.
Learn to Compete
Participants entering this programme have completed the Learn to Train programme so know what is required to better their skating abilities. In the Train to Compete skaters will learn what competitive roller figure skating involves. At this stage skaters are encouraged to choose two or more figure skating disciplines. This makes them more versatile as all the disciplines complement each other. In addition to this skaters are avaised about off-skate training and additional activities which would help their skating (yoga, Plyometrics, ballet, and gymnastics). In the most part skaters will be involved in club level competitions though some of the younger skaters may enter Tots (up to 9 years) level national championships.
Train to Compete
By this time skaters are becoming athletes and are homing their talents to one or two disciplines within roller figure skating. At this stage some skaters may be working towards taking part in their first national competitions and starting to limit the amount of club level competitions to make ready for major events. It is also at this stage that the more dedicated skaters may be chosen to take part in Class B internationals. It is also a time when the skating team ( the skater, their parents and coach will go through the requirements that will be needed in the transfer from being a skater to an athlete.
Learn / Live to Win
This programme is dedicated to those athletes who are passionate and dedicated to the sport of competitive roller skating. They will train 48 weeks of the year on and off skates, they are the people who plan for success and chase their dreams. However, when we talk about winning it is not just about medals and trophies but achieving personal bests and targets. This means all our athletes who skate to the best of their ability are winners. During this programme athletes will learn about setting long and short term goals, triple Periodisation for nationals, qualifying internationals and their major annual international competition/championships. The skills they will pick up will not just help their skating career but also in their everyday life like planning their future job, overcoming problems, striving to be the best etc.
